Bro. Takevess C. Hatcher, Ph.D.

Takevess C. Hatcher is a native of sunny South Florida and a Fall 2018 initiate into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. through the Iota Pi Lambda Chapter.

Takevess earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Education from Nova Southeastern University and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Union Institute and University.  Takevess has been employed as a teacher with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and Miami-Dade College. While teaching Takevess co-created a dropout prevention program for Florida City Elementary titled: Project P.R.I.D.E (Purpose, Responsibility, Initiative, Drive, and Endurance).

After about ten years of teaching, Takevess took a huge leap of faith and started his own business- HTC Tax Services, LLC. 12 years later, Takevess has annually helped to put millions of dollars in the hands of his clients, thus helping to increase positive economic development in the communities of Homestead and Florida City.

Currently, Takevess serves as the Enrollment Specialist in the STEM Wave Department and Adjunct Professor at Miami Dade College – Homestead Campus. Takevess also serves as the Executive Pastor and Minister of Music at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.

Most recently, Takevess earned a Ph.D. degree from Union Institute and University by successfully defending his dissertation, “The Relationship of Jim Crow Policies toward Black Entrepreneurship in South Florida- 1880-1964. An economic and social policy analysis.”

His vision for the Iota Pi Lambda is to:

  • Increase chapter membership through recruitment, reclamation, and retention activities.
  • Increase community partnerships.
  • Create fundraising and advancement programs.
  • And so much more.
