The Iota Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated was chartered on December 22, 1969 in Richmond Heights, Florida. Ten Brothers – Thomas E. Anderson, Dr. Clarence L. Cryer, Dr. Linkson T. Cryer, Dr. Earl Dinkins, Emmanuel R. Frayar, Jr., Paul Joseph, Thaddeus Mackey, Lee R. Perry, Dr. John C. Pittman, and Louis M. Taylor – united to create a chapter that would serve the needs of residents in the south metropolitan area of Miami-Dade County.
Since the chapter’s chartering, Iota Pi Lambda has worked diligently to serve the residents of Richmond Heights and its neighboring communities. For over 50 years, our chapter has supported many endeavors to improve the social, economic, and intellectual status of Black Miami. Locally, IPL ambitiously works to perform activities that include providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors, donations to youth sports teams, assistance to schools in need, family holiday meal baskets, and Christmas toys to children residing throughout the area.
